Green & Spiegel Helps Bring Boy Throb Together Following Darshan Magdum’s O-1 Visa Approval

Philadelphia immigration attorney Jonathan Grode helped secure the approval that paved the way for the viral pop group’s first in-person performance as a foursome.

Philadelphia, PA: Boy Throb’s long-awaited reunion became a reality on October 16, when Darshan Magdum joined his three bandmates onstage at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for the group’s first in-person performance together as a foursome. This celebration followed the approval of Magdum’s O-1 visa, a milestone supported by Philadelphia immigration attorney Jonathan A. Grode, U.S. Practice Director and Managing Partner at Green & Spiegel. The visa allows Magdum to continue performing and expanding the group’s presence in the United States following a year of viral success, sold-out performances, media attention, and collaborations with established artists.

The event, dubbed “Darshan Day,” brought the group’s online following together for an in-person celebration. As fans followed updates on Magdum’s arrival, Boy Throb performed ahead of his entrance. Magdum then joined the band onstage, and the foursome performed “4GETHER,” a song celebrating their reunion. Grode, who worked on Magdum’s immigration case, greeted Darshan at the Newark Liberty International Airport and participated in the day’s arrival activities.

For Magdum, who had previously participated remotely while his bandmates performed in person, the October 16 appearance marked a personal and professional turning point: his first time on U.S. soil and his first live performance alongside his bandmates. At the event, he told the crowd, “I’m excited for everything the U.S. has to offer me.”

The visa approval followed a Request for Evidence (RFE) from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services seeking additional documentation of Magdum’s qualifications. Grode helped prepare a detailed response that drew on the group’s media coverage, music-industry collaborations, reference letters from industry professionals, and other evidence of Magdum’s artistic achievements and recognition.

“The definition of extraordinary ability continues to evolve alongside the entertainment industry,” said Jonathan Grode. “Many of today’s most successful artists build their careers through digital audiences, live performances, media recognition, and industry collaborations. This case demonstrates how those achievements, when properly documented, can satisfy the O-1 standard.”

Beyond Boy Throb, the case reflects the evolving landscape of immigration for artists and entertainers whose careers span traditional and digital platforms. Green & Spiegel advises individuals and organizations navigating complex U.S. immigration matters, including O-1 petitions for professionals in the arts and entertainment industries.

With all four members now together in the United States, Boy Throb is embarking on a new chapter. The group is currently traveling from New York to Los Angeles on its Great American Road Trip (GART), introducing Darshan to America and connecting with fans through meet-and-greets along the way. For Green & Spiegel, the milestone demonstrates how immigration counsel can help international artists pursue their ambitions and build careers that cross borders.
