Kerry Doyle spoke with Maine Public about the return of her client, Domingo Tot Quip, a Portland, Maine resident who was mistakenly deported to Guatemala after federal immigration officials misidentified him during an enforcement operation in January. Tot Quip was detained while waiting at a bus stop on his way to work and deported days later after ICE officials mistook him for another individual with a final order of removal. After seven months in Guatemala, Tot Quip is returning to Maine, with ICE acknowledging in court records the “gravity of the inadvertent removal” and facilitating his return.
