Caregivers who haven’t qualified for a current caregiver program have less than one week to apply for the Interim Pathway for Caregivers. Applications received after June 4, 2019, will not be accepted.

In order to apply, a caregiver must have:

  1. A minimum of Canadian Benchmark level 5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking in either French or English (or proof of a scheduled language test at submission)
  2. A Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Qualifying work experience (1 year of authorized full-time work experience as a home childcare provider since November 30, 2014)
  4. A valid work permit (or proof of a filed application for a work permit extension)

The Interim Pathway for Caregivers provides a pathway to becoming permanent residents for a caregiver, their spouses, and their children.
