By now, human resources professionals, legal counsel, and other corporate stakeholders in any business connected to the H-1B visa program should be well aware that United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) intends to implement a new system this year — indeed this quarter — for filing H-1B visa petitions subject to the annual H-1B visa cap. This ostensibly well-intentioned new system will replace the prior industry practice of preparing hundreds of thousands of complete H-1B visa petitions and submitting them to USCIS each April 1—the official start of what has become known as the H-1B filing season.

In the two years and 308 days that Donald Trump has been president, his administration has constructed barriers to immigration through subtle administrative shifts. DACA supporters rallied in Washington D.C on Tuesday as they waited to learn if beneficiaries will be forced to leave the country. NBC10’s Lauren Mayk spoke to Jonathan Grode, an attorney representing DACA recipients and businesses that have hired them. Grode is working with businesses on contingency plans in case those companies lose the workers they depend on.
