Congratulations to Katelyn Hufe Karahan, a Partner at Green and Spiegel, U.S., who has just been named Chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association in Philadelphia, PA.

PHILADELPHIA, PA: During the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)’s annual elections on May 18th, Katelyn Hufe Karahan was elected Chair of the Philadelphia Chapter. Nominated by its members, she will serve a one-year term, effective immediately. Katelyn has been a member of AILA for eleven years, since 2012.

“I could not be more proud of Katelyn. Being elected Chapter Chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association is a tremendous accomplishment and one that speaks not only to her acumen as an immigration lawyer, but also her impact on the community. I am confident that the Chapter and Philadelphia, at large, will benefit greatly from her leadership”, said Jonathan Grode, Green and Spiegel’s U.S. Practice Director and Managing Partner.

When asked about her new title, Katelyn said “I am honored to be leading the chapter during such an important and pivotal time. With an election drawing ever closer, and immigration policy being overdue for change, I look forward to serving as Chair with my incredible executive committee, and working alongside some of Philadelphia’s finest lawyers, to advocate on immigration issues that affect businesses, families, and the community. ”.

As described on its website, AILA is the national association of immigration lawyers established to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members. The organization consists of more than 15,000 lawyers nationally and over 500 throughout its Philadelphia Chapter.

Katelyn has over ten years of experience in nearly all aspects of immigration law including employment-based and family-based immigration, removal defense, federal litigation, citizenship, and applications for humanitarian relief. Katelyn’s practice currently focuses on helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow by strategically utilizing a range of non-immigrant and immigrant visa options to build and retain a talented workforce.
