On January 21, 2020, President Trump confirmed at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos a long-rumored plan to expand the existing Travel Ban to additional countries. Though he would not confirm which countries are on his list, sources with knowledge of the plan – which could be announced as early as next week – have indicated it would include Belarus, Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania. It is also unclear if the expanded Travel Ban would apply to all citizens of the listed countries, or only to certain individuals (e.g., government officials) seeking particular classifications (e.g., immigrant vs. nonimmigrant visas vs. refugees).
